A little bit hung over after the Wasdale Head Shepherd’s Meet And Show yesterday (and more importantly last night at the Wasdale Head Inn).
I didn’t think this would be a particularly strenuous walk, the paths looked OK on the OS map, but that’s not the way it turned out. From the right turn at How Beck until the ridge is gained just above Slight Side there is no path (despite what the OS map says), and it is very steep; a proper slog!
That apart, I can’t fault the views, definitely some of the best in Lakeland. If you like craggy landscapes, this is the place for you. Once you get to the top of Brock Crag the views are stunning for most of the walk.
There’s some very slightly exposed scrambling towards the ridge path and near the summit of Slight Side, but it’s not too tricky and just adds to the enjoyment.
Another one for a clear day given the views, and once the hangover had evaporated, very enjoyable 🙂
