The initial climb up Robinson is pretty brutal, think Kirk Fell direct from Wasdale Head, but a bit shorter. After that there are also the climbs to High Spy after the descent to Dale Head Tarn, and the climb to Fleetwith Pike on tired legs after the descent to the Honister Pass; that’s quite some ascent!
While the walk is a good one with an easy to follow route, the ignorati were out in force, so it was spoiled by not being able to get to cairns without a wait, and by people shouting in the distance. Basically, it’s the Buttermere and Haystacks effect (attracts too many casual walkers) – If possible don’t do this walk on a weekend or bank holiday. If it wasn’t for the above I would have given it a seven.
