This one went a little astray! The previous night’s rain had caused a flood at Buttermere Dubs and Sourmilk Gill and it was impossible to get across. I ended up driving from the village to Gatesgarth Farm. This leaves a long trek across the face of Buttermere Fell, and it is indeed a trek, with very poor to non-existent paths.
However, once I reached Bleaberry Tarn I rejoined my original planned route and all was well 🙂 After that it’s a great walk with exceptional views in all directions; yet another one for a clear day!
The ratings given are for the route I walked, but going from Buttermere village I would reduce the Strenuosity and Technicality and increase the Enjoyability.
