An absolutely glorious day, so it had to be a trip the The Lakes! I decided on a circular around Langdale, a walk I abandoned last year due to torrential rain and high winds; today could not have been more different.
Setting off from the National Trust car park at the the Old Dungeon Ghyll Hotel I took the less used route past Wall End. This is a great path and not too steep.
Once gaining the summit of Pike of Blisco the walk is pretty straightforward, with the one exception that there is no real path to Cold Pike, but if you are not hill bagging then you can skip it.
Now, the bad step just before the second Crinkle; this is reasonably difficult. There’s no real exposure, but the shorter you are the harder it will be. I’m 6’2″ and the last part was still a stretch. On the plus side most people walk around so you may get a few minutes to ‘size it up’ before deciding.
Overall, not too strenuous, with some easy scrambling that just adds to the interest. You are right in the middle of The Lakes here, and the views are stunning in every direction; definitely a walk to save for a clear day. A great walk that I highly recommend 🙂
