Three fells at the side of Ullswater that do not lend themselves to inclusion in other walks. They all needed doing for my round of the Wainwrights, so I decided to combine them into one walk.
Unfortunately this has the side effect of making the walk less than optimal in terms of circularity. Great and Little Mell Fells both require some retracing of steps, but I’m afraid it’s unavoidable if you want to do all three on one walk.
That aside, the fells offer some good views, especially considering their relatively diminutive height! The climb up Little Mell Fell is also pretty steep, but not that far so bearable. Other than that the walk is straightforward, with no scrambling or awkward bits.
Well worth a try, with varied terrain and wonderful views of the lovely Ullswater and surrounding fells 🙂
