Not the best route in the world! The walk up Moasdale is boggy in places and pathless from Lingcove Beck (difficult to cross after periods of heavy rain) to Pike de Bield. It’s a good walk from there until you reach the summit of Little Stand, then it’s a craggy, pathless and awkward route back down to Moasdale. In poor visibility this would require some serious navigation; you have been warned!

Other than navigation, there’s nothing too technical, with just a small amount of easy scrambling (if you miss out the bad step on Crinkle Crags).

That said, the views of the Scafells don’t get any better than this, and the ridge walk from Esk Pike to Crinkle Crags is wonderful. Still, I don’t think it makes up for the walk’s shortcomings, so it’s not one I’ll be doing again.
