This is probably one of the boggiest walks in the Lake District; be warned! It doesn’t bother me much, as I’ve spent a lot of time on the Pennine hills, and by comparison the Lake District is a rank amateur.
This is the first walk I have ever done in The Lakes where I did not see another sole, even in the distance; quite surprising on a sunny Saturday! The A591 was closed to traffic between Grasmere and the B5322 junction, so that might have had something to do with it.
So, if you can put up with the not inconsiderable boggy sections, then it’s a nice walk with great views. As an added bonus you may even get to see some red deer 🙂
